At this time in our country we need every laugh we can get. There's so much evil and hate, you can't get a smile in sideways. Hope this helps a little.

Expert Preacher

To answer your question, I drink a little bit,
That bottle you see there is just about it,

No it’s not empty there’s maybe a shot,
I’ll have before bed time it helps me a lot,

That other bottle you asked to borrow,
Sorry but no, I need it for tomorrow,

When I was in college the professor said,
You must be experienced to ever get ahead,

As a preacher I’ve seen lots of drinkin,
And to save these lost souls, I was thinkin,

To comprehend addiction, I need to imbibe,
If ever I’m going to visual their side,

I think now I’ve made it and got it down pat,
I drink one after supper and three after that,

It’s a little confusing ,but I won my degree,
All my booze drinkin buddies are happy with me,

The thing that I’m thinking that’s next on my list,
Is the thing that I’m hoping everyone missed ,

It ruins lots of marriage and injures the soul,
I need to get going, before I’m too old,

I’m getting excited, but the wife’s looking bad,
I tried to explain , but she’s raging and mad,

I’ve ’never heard her cursing , she’s always so meek,
My adultery class is beginning next week.

Epilogue:

I thought I was smart and would get a head start, the first expert I’d be in a bit,
I Hold my head in despair, cause there’s a lotta preachers out there, that have already beaten me to it.

We always say that it takes one to know one. And a little hair of the dog never heard anyone except maybe the fleas. They say that an expert is a drip under pressure, but I don't know any preachers who are more expert than those who get right down into the heart of the matter.

As usual, very funny and entertaining.

Hey, Tom ! You're over-doing it and yourself a bit here. The caesura balancing the six-syllable crescendo and descent-cadence almost perfectly. Good that you don't let the end-rhymes dictate the syllable count, for you give the rhythm (and hence the melody) their mnemonic ring. Do you hit the bottle before you compose ? Or after ? I think both before and after ! Every good wish.
