Ban the Straw

California has a habit of instituting knee jerk rules and regs based upon reverse wording, like the gas tax . Is the straw one of those?

Ban the Straw

Do you know why California banned the drinking straw,
Did you really think it was the use of plastic to outlaw,

How they’re made using fossil fuel is the strongest fear,
Escaping gases, tend to rise and cloud the atmosphere,

I won’t disagree with all the theories talked about,
It’s just not nice to speak of certain gases gittin out,

Hydrogen as a sulfide can really curl your toes,
When found in heavy volume anywhere near the nose,

Commonly gas is expelled by almost every mammal,
I strongly recommend staying up wind of a camel,

What’s this got to do with the big straw ban,
Believe it or not , the drinking straw is not the best for man,

You take in a shot of beautiful air, with every drinking slurp,
But the odds are a hundred to one against it coming out as a burp,

So get off the cow, blaming climate change, the facts are just not there,
There’s a stronger possibility, you get three guesses where.

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering where all that explosive discharge was coming from. I'm going to start drinking straight from the glass again making sure that I take big gulps of air to purify my drinking habit. My straw sipping days are over.

PS. I have a glass straw that goes tinkle, tinkle after I make a suck on it and let go when it drops back into the glass. Is that why I tinkle so much? A glass to glass reaction. Nothing I hate worse than walking barefoot on broken glass.

This narrative reminds me of an old farmer's lament. He said:

"Love is a pleasant gust of wind coming from the heart
Unless it takes the lower path, then it's just a fart."

What a romantic guy!

Is nothing sacred any more, not even the simple drinking straw. I admire your ability to see humor and levity in so many things. Well done as expected.

Hi Tom! There you gp again putting all the blame on your own folks. What about the ear-ripping slurps spaghetti consumption in Italy and the tongue-twisting noodles suctioned by Far Eastern peoples, especially the Japanese variety that never produce burps??? It's easy not to condemn good ol' cow-methane (based on straws of all kinds) while gobbling gallons of the surrogate mothers' milk we all are fed by from birth. Running out of subjects for the anthology???
