The not so golden years, unless you're talking about the cost of living them- Try laughter instead

More Golden Years, Look Out!

The Golden years bring many things you will surely dread,
Cain’t hear you dear from over here, this earplug thing is dead ,

No, it’s not you i was yellin at, , I was talkin to me, instead,
And No! I cain’t repeat it, I cain’t remember what I said,

I ain’t too good at multitasking, so gimme a little slack, ,
And hold off more instructions my minds a one way track,

I was gonna get our groceries , it was meat and stuff and bread,
I did just like you told me and wrote it like, you said,

I wrote it on this paper, but wrong again I guess,
That was our 1040 form we mail to IRS,

Ok, Ok, so I messed it up, but honey you know it’s true ,
Them tax folks may be thankin me, they might need groceries too,

Yeah my memory’s not the best, but there’s something I gotta know,
I got the car key’s in my hand, but where was I gonna go?

Now I remember, the grocery store. I got a cart to fill,
How about the pharmacy, do we need another pill?

Dear, I’ll stay outta trouble, I didn’t commit no crime,
Yeah, I’ll check the gasoline, won’t need a tow this time,

It ain’t like I’m forgetful, I just cain’t remember stuff,
Like telling Cops my address is always pretty tough,

No I cain’t read that triple “A’ card, but don’t write instructions down,
See, I don’t think I’ll need it, there’s lots of cops in town,

But I forget they’re busy texting, and don’t hear what you say,
So ain’t no need to write it, They cain’t read cursive anyway,

I promise I won’t call 911 again, but Hon it was kinda neat,
After all the ER entrance is just a few doors down the street,

Yeah, I‘ll take the cell phone, for all the good that it will do,
I cain’t hear the ringer and they’ll wanna talk to you,

Everyone says press one or answer some other way,
But I cain’t return the comment, with what I’d like to say

I almost tried that texting, but I couldn’t find ,
A symbol or a picture for half the old peace sign,

I don’t know about our gas stations, they all look the same,
They use these screwy symbols and I cain’t read the name,

With all this Climate changing stuff, My motor wouldn’t crank,
And I got that electric charger hose stuck in my gas tank,

If I get confused again, I promise without fail,
Call a taxi for me, I’ll be at the County Jail.

If I could remember what I did yesterday, this would probably be it.
See ya down at the County Jail.

You really cracked me up. Especially that "half of the peace sign." ;-)

You've captured just about anyone who doesn't die early of car accident, gunshot wound, cancer or heart attack leaving a good-looking corpse. But the rest of us get it, because we are in it.

You're at it again, Tom: pell-mell, hammer and tongs ! Looks like you won't let the ol' Boss-Lady alone, but worse still, you're taking on the whole Police force:

"See, I don’t think I’ll need it, there’s lots of cops in town,

But I forget they’re busy texting, and don’t hear what you say,
So ain’t no need to write it, They cain’t read cursive anyway,"

If I were you, I'd leave town in a hurry !

No use telling you what to do: Alzheimer's got you anyway.
It's a surprise you manage to keep to the same tune from start to finish.
Immensely ENJOYED but hope you won't over-do it, cos the Boss-Lady might just call 911 to have you interned ! Not that it matters - you wouldn't know the difference hollerin' at the jail-keepers !
BEST. Great you're back swinging that paw... TW
