Morning sunrise wrapped in soft breeze,
flowers in bloom watered with morning dew,
birds waking, preparing, their breakfast to make
life waiting to see what will become of this day,

A clean slate to start a canvas of living arts
in colors abundant in a world full of brilliance
as gardeners prepare to tend their blooming beauties
among their cohabitants both butterfly and honey bee

Day warming as always drenched in summer heat
facing long hours of blanketing humidity
while shade prepares ever to keep cool as it can
the ambitions of those who have a day planned

In parks for recreation, for shoppers who shop
on ball fields and swing sets, bicycles and sidewalks
a day yet to become in hours to fill
with moments decided by strength of their will

To wholly commit to a thing left to do
to take up earth’s offerings as it gives us to choose
a morsel of fruit, a slice or a sliver
inside near a fan, a cafe or near river

So much to consider, so much to partake
as starlight from evening begins now to fade
as morning sunrise bids them adieu
ready to shine through a day that’s brand new

On mothers and fathers, grandparents and children
an entire new day for all us to live in
musicians and painters, poets and gardeners
athletes and builders, game keepers and barters

Our day is now here for all of us to try
to make our best effort to enjoy our life
a day here to gift us a day to remember
a day in our lives to fill with life’s splendor.
