Poem Artwork

Heaven lies about us in our infancy! Shades of the prison-house begin to close upon the growing boy.
William Wordsworth

.......................................................................................

The golden laburnum tree stands like a sentinel

on the island in the middle of the lily covered pond

as I view the expanding and unfolding majestic landscape

and I recall times now past, and loved faces since departed

the sweeping lawn provides a breathtaking walk downhill

a venture back into the magic of enchanting time

but alas , there are no familiar traces to be found

of the eyes that once danced with the sparkle of life

as I observe a little grebe nervously emerging from the banks of iris

and within my being, I sense the most mysterious sighs

that yes, there are many things veiled from our profane eyes

for if we knew, we may have upset the perfect plan

I take the path that leads to the hidden grotto

with trailing wisteria and phalanxes of spectacular cyclamen

rushing waters cascading in wondrous waterfalls

moss laden walls sculpted with Victorian splendor

this secret garden that is peculiar to me

where yesterdays dreams come alive in full vigor

while the warbling of the wren serenades life's greatness

and the scurrying ant, works tirelessly and diligently

as the spider weaves his gossamer magnificence

this sacred sanctuary where my love and I exist

Joseph is probably right, this wonderful place can be found in the heart, but seldom is it expressed in wonderful words as above! Brilliant work and a most beautiful picture,

And I might ask you who , besides the breathtaking secret garden, has inspired this incredible write? You are in tune to all the species of flora as you hinted and braided them to wistful memories and the comfort and beauty of your surrooundings."... there are many things veiled from our profane eyes for if we knew, we may have upset the perfect plan", and with the pln comes the seasons, every changing lives and the wonder of the scenes we set and the dancing eyes that kindle memories. I think I need to take a walk today!

Outstanding write Peter, by far to me…one of your best. The sadness of lost hearts, the hope through spiritual eyes…very sweet and deep.

We have here in Halifax one of the most perfect examples of a Victorian Park and it always amazes me to go there on a summer day and feel the peace and tranquility it contains.

I am an avid gardener and the descriptions in your verse drew me into a haven of amazing beauty. Like the tender leaves of a budding Lilac your words are wrapped in ineffable adoration. Ah, to sit in the exquisite garden of Love and partake of the wondrous gifts unfolding with each new breath. I would call this a garden of Pure Bliss. :)

Well, you took a stroll down nature's own today, Peter, and I guess I took it with you as I read it. Your eye for detail in this particular poem is excellent and your mental meanderings and feelings gwave the poem its unique flavor of angst.

(((( Peter )))) this is simply breathtaking in all forms. That power of love and all it’s promises are the strengths in which we gather our light, our truth of the divinity of our spirits, promised by our creation. This is so magnificent how you describe your painted palette of glorious splendors and the power of the astonishing depths of the human spirit. Extremely well penned as always…
Thank you Peter...
