Nature knows no pause in progress and development,
and attaches her curse on all inaction.
--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
.....................................................................................
I went rambling amongst the wild heather clad hills
sweet purple and vermillion flowers with a succulent aroma
on those high moorlands of luscious green bracken
overhead a sparrowhawk was quartering it domain
and inside my thoughts were ruminating this strange life
wondering if I ever, will be able to solve the enigmatic riddle
below in the steep gorge, I heard the thunderous roar
of a fast flowing river, twisting and turning to the sea
as my heart meandered back to you and me
a curlew took off, and rose high in the azure sky
its liquid bubbling call, sweet and melliflous
as if summoning me back to reality once more
I pitched my canvas tent, against a dry stone wall
that had stood the passage and test of time
a weasel appeared from out of the bracken
spying me cautiously, and then disappeared
I've often mused that love is a mirage
for when you reach out to it, it simply vanishes
I lit my paraffin stove, and rustled up a tasty meal
and settled down for a tranquil night under the stars
as all around, the calls of crickets and grasshoppers resonated
and I'm at my best, when I am close to nature
dusk began to settle, with that indefinable quality
magical moonlight pierced the shadows
as I sat in complete stillness and silence
reaping all the majestic benefits
when the heart connects with the universe
and then suddenly my soul emitted evocative whjspers
the way to heaven is simple and direct
when you start relying on your God inside

This is a revelation of the soul!
"when the heart connects with the universe"
This is where we shall meet one day, my friend.

I must confess, this brought on the waterworks. A classic, Peter...

I agree with you, there is much revelation that can be had out in nature. My wife and I find, often, our greatest inspiration while we adventure and hike through God's profound and lovely creation.
This was excellent, especially in the feelings that accompanied it.
