In an unspecified second

On a critical April's day

Time stood fast

And as the bullet echoed

For all ears to hear

6 was forever changed to 9

far, far away. . . in Never Land

  where soldiers never grow old

Thus, all the connections were broken

And all the lines were drawn

And white became game to black

And black became quarry to white

And no one could reason as to why

Nevertheless—I have met the enemy

And it is I

An old Nam veteran soldier may concur.
People won't see between the lines of your poem, but those that were "there" have.
Thanks...and keep'm coming.

Frightening. A very powerful piece of writing, and a strong statement.

I have met quite a few soldiers (through my line of work) and they described exactly what you've stated here. Well done. Hugs, Laura
