Birth of a New Season
I love to look out my kitchen window
At the beautiful, generous world outside
At the little grass shoots turning green
Their blades growing thick and wide.
I love to watch the spacious skies
The white cottony clouds floating by
The brilliant blue in the far-off distance
That houses the mysteries of the sky.
I like to feel the breezes blowing
Whipping up the branches in the trees
Sending them dancing like beautiful ballerinas
To tease the senses with which to please.
I like it when the wind blows strong
To introduce the new March of spring
With brown leaves tumbling across the lawn
While busy little birds prance and sing.
What a glorious time of year it is
When all nature bursts into glorious rebirth
Following a long, cold pregnant winter
That brings renewing energy to this old earth.
