The green room.........

Yes, this really happened, only on Sunday. It took most of the day to put the room back in order after practically moving everything but the bed frame itself out.....

Poem Artwork

    The green room.....
Ever have one of those crazy days,
everything you touch seems to go wrong.
Went outside to add birdseed to feeders,
they fell off the limbs, gust of wind was
too strong.

Birds stood and watched with a puzzled look,
as I scrambled to clean up the mess I made.
Closer and closer they would land in
the grass,
eating the seeds under the tree in the shade.

Moving carefully and slow found
myself amazed,
there were so many they covered
the ground.
More were waiting high up on the roof,
guess they wanted a spot that was safe
and sound.

Walked through the garage, picked up
ribbons and bows,
grabbed the whole bag to bring into
the house.
Christmas presents all wrapped, just need the
final touch,
when I opened the bag out jumped this
tiny mouse.

The chaos that ensued was fit for prime
time tv,
as I chased the mouse and my kitties
chased me.
Down the hallway into what we call the
green room,
slammed the door shut, thought I had him
you see.

Kitties were scratching and clawing the door,
while I grabbed my broom, they stayed on
the prowl.
Very slowly and carefully I pushed the
door open,
next sound I heard was scratching and
a growl.

The mouse took off against the wall behind
the bed,
quick as lightning and oh so very shrewd.
On a shelf hit my head, tripping over more
cat toys,
do not care, got my broom, here I will
stay glued.

Tip toed carefully over to open the
closet door,
swung it open to give that mouse a place
to hide.
He showed his face, swung my broom, hole
in one,
that is what you get for damaging my pride.

Guess who woke up from all the noise
and commotion,
said, "What do you think you are doing with
that broom?"
Stood straight up, looked into those tired
beady eyes,
said, "There is a mouse in the closet of the
little green room."

He looked into the room and saw the mess
we made,
then left to get some gloves, a bucket, and
a lid.
Opened the closet door, pulled out the mouse
by his tail,
tossed him in the bucket while we watched,
he slid.

Taking the bucket with the mouse inside,
walked out the garage and placed the bucket
on the ground.
At first that little guy did not want to
come out,
then he ran in circles, finally taking off leaps
and bounds.

Very humerous read, Karen. I've see all 5 of my cats ignoring a rat! I picked them up and virtually threw them at the unconcerned rodent to no avail!!! Overfed and pampered I think!
I also once witnessed my tabby feeding and sticking out his paw to trap a mouse running past. The little bugger looked at the mouse, looked at his food, looked again at the mouse and let it go. He then carried on feeding quite nonchalantly. I love the little monsters!

Blessings,
Keith

Oooo. You're hubby is a hero! I can't abide the sight of a mouse. They're so tiny -- we're so big, but I scream like a baby and shiver all over whenever I see one -- even in a pet store! --Charlie

A great mouse tail. About three weeks ago the little critters gnawed a wire in two on our CRV that carried signal for brakes and Vehicle Stability System. Cost $1200 to remove interior and rewire. Mice are not our favorite thing right now.

I'm amazed that you were able to capture the mouse. As for the Green Room - hope you didn't break anything.

I was breathless when I finished reading this [from the hectic-ness of the event].

Your hubby is A-OK! After my wife goes through all her many 'mouse' hysterics, and the cats and dogs finally calm down a little and stop chasing, hissing, and barking, I take that cute little old mouse back outside, too!

Will it be a happy Christmouse....
Here the greenroom is the place you wait and sweat before going live on TV.... I wondr if it was a vole or field mouse, being so tiny...

Though never seen a wild mouse, but in a bucket it would be wild..lol
