I love the wind!
Even having witnessed
The after effects
Of air gone mad
I still feel
Exhilerated
When the breeze
Picks up,
When I can't wait
To run outside
And turn my face
Into its power.
Perhaps it comes
From an abundance
Of happy childhood memories
Spent in places
Where the wind
Was a constant,
Living thing,
Where each puff of air
Brought adventure
And change.
I really can't say;
But I have no desire
To challenge Mother Nature
For I know what she
Is capable of
And I need no proof
Of her capricousness.
No...
I think,
When all is said and done,
I seek only
To revel in one more aspect
Of her magnificent glory
And to nurture my need
For drama.
A well-written and wonderful tribute to wind. I love the wind, too, but now only under certain circumstances because my disability cannot deal with the power of the wind nor the chill it brings to my body. So therefore, I now look for and luxuriate in the sun of a still day.
Beautifully written. Elegant and simple use of nouns and verbs. I had never thought of Nature or the wind as a way to "nurture my need for drama." Now I will never forget. Thank you, Rebecca.
A book of nature inspired poems and essays, written from the heart and soul of a life-long nature, animal, and wilderness lover, and dedicated to today’s children - Earth's only hope for a better tomorrow.
