The morning sun is peeking
Above the mountain
Rising just beyond
Our front pasture.
It bathes me in
It’s gentle, fog-shrouded, light
As I take a sip from
The mug of cocoa
Nestled warmly
In my hands.
I listen to
The early morning birdsong
While I watch
A pair of rabbits
Nibbling peacefully
In the dew-covered grass,
Accompanied by
An occasional honeybee
Buzzing between
The stalks of
Yellow dandelions
And a carpet
Of blooming clover.
It’s a new day,
And I am greeting it
With a joyous heart,
Thankful for
My bounty of blessings,
Beginning with
This very moment
As I watch my world
Come gently
To life.

Oh, how I love the early mornings. I sit with my coffee on the porch and watch my hummingbirds fight over the bird feeder, Ha..along with a rabbit are two if I'm lucky, sometimes a squirrel climbing a tree. God's beautiful landscape.
