There is passion
On the wind tonight.
It is brilliance born
In whites and blues
As lightening plays
Atop the mountain peaks.
It is triumph expressed
In booming, thunderous notes
That make a heart race

It is freedom, now unbarred,

Before a conquering tempest.
And it is life elemental
To the power

What a beautiful ode to lightning and the resounding thunder that follows. It fascinated Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Graham, Tesla and others, but has not been tamed yet as a power source.
And you're right about the passion. So many times when a front came through and the sky opened up, I went out on the porch just to watch the mayhem all around. One of the things I already remember was the acrid smell in the air as the lightning combined elements and molecules creating that sulfur dioxide tang and smell. I didn't fear it, I was drawn to it like this poem.
