i couldn't help it when i saw the giraffe,
i busted out in a big ole laugh,
giraffe had the longest neck i ever saw,
i kept picturing him in a neck brace...haw, haw!

i couldn't help it when i saw the monkeys,
they got mad when i teased them, acted all funky,
they chattered and they jeered me in their monkey talk,
maybe they were telling me i should take a walk?

i couldn't help it when i saw spotted cheetah,
hid in the trees, trying to go incognita,
that cat had spots on top of spots on top of SPOTS,
would the cheetah mind if i played "connect the dots"?

i couldn't help it when i saw that elephant,
i laughed when i saw he was eating an eggplant,
he got mad for interrupting his dinner time,
so he threw some mud on me and some other slime!

i couldn't help it when i saw all the parrots,
they flew away when i tried to give them carrots,
o! the zoo keeper was mad, but i was faster,
but i couldn't help it--was made for disaster.

i couldn't help it when i saw the gorilla,
'specially when i heard his name was priscilla,
i laughed so hard, he bonked me on top of the head,
don't go to the zoo no more, i'm grounded, instead.
