......so sad, it's funny. Or visa versa: DAMN cigarettes!!

... Let me tell you:  I
like them more than they
like me.  No, it goes
beyond that:  I l o v e
them, I do:  a bit
complicated, this
strange partnership we
have:  been together
so long, we're used to
each other now.  They
know what to do when
I've had a bad day:
they sooothe my anxious
nerves.  Just too bad they're
taking my lungs with
them:  damn cigarettes!!!!

Karla, Oh my! Not you too! I have a friend whose lungs are shot from second-hand smoke! Her father the culprit! Quit, my friend, you really don't want to face that awful battle she's presently facing. It's only a white stick with stupid stuff in it. My father-in-law quit cold turkey. You can do it too. Just make up your mind...please!

You very concerned friend,
Lena

Your lungs and every other organ in your body too! I lost my dad and my brother to lung cancer from smoking and I hated it when I was addicted to cigarettes. It had always been fairly easy for me to quit until the last time I tried. I was just starting my menopause and trying to quit at the same time. My co-workers kept a stash of smokes and would beg me to go outside and have one because I was so impossible to be around. I finally got some homeopathic meds which helped with the moodiness and found these little accupressure strips that I put in my ears that had a little seed beneath a piece of tape...those totally controlled the craving and strangely, those really worked great. You change out the strip after 5 days, but I never needed to use a second one. I have vowed that I will never again smoke a cigarette...I wouldn't want to have to go through quitting again.
Take care,
Sherry

Do you know what color your lungs are? This was a continuous question from my children when I smoked. I smoked for 2 years and put them down. I'm richer in health and purse and I have my freedom back. Think about it.
Love and blessings!

Do what I did. Hire some huge guy to follow you for a week and beat the tar out of you when you light up. Works in three days

... Sounds like the old love-hate relationship you got goin on... the can't live with em and can't live without em mode... Most of us have addictions of one sort or another, but few are as costly in terms of health or monetary cost. Guess, when it comes down to it, we gotta hate things more than we love them in order to be able to give them up. And it can get to more than a while to get to THAT stage. Sobering, but backbone-building... for others as well as yourself, Karla. Sometimes we are blind when thinking about our own invincibility... but to see the whirlwind reaped in the lives of others brings the stark truth home to us. You can do it, Baby... any time you are ready and willing to. You are made of stern stuff, Karla. Bless you. Kate xx

Karla,

Give em up I know you can do it. If you think they're killing you imagine what they're doing to your friends.

LOL Karla! I have this same addiction. Let's pray for each other. I'd rather "divorce" this volatile relationship than wait for death to part us.

Love & Light always and in all ways,

Oh, do I relate!! Quitting nearly k i l l e d me. Nearly did in everybody who came near!!!! But worth it? I am absolutely convinced that had I kept smoking, I would not be writing this. 'Be six feet under. Or wish I was. Quitting was hell, but I have so much more energy. More at 73 than I did at 33. Honest. You may not smoke as heavily as I did -- h o p e . n o t --, but as you know, tobacco companies have added poison. Smoking was a comfort to me for a long time. Believe me, I understand. But. . .you have to

All that said, poem's great. Want you to live a l - o - n - g time. Write many, many, many more+++++++++++. Love always, 'Pea' <3

I am so sorry to hear this Karla. The addiction is assuredly insidious and takes no mind to anything except pacifying the moment. I pray that you will be able to quit.

My husband says the very same thing, "Damn cigarettes!"
I don't smoke although I can see they're quite addicting, but I also believe as Mr. Ed,there's probably worse additons. Love Holly

Ahhh Karla you are so right, I smoked two packs a day right up till about 7 years ago and then I quit cold turkey but I don't think there isn't a week that goes by that I don't think of them and long for one. However I will never go back unless the doc someday tells me I only have a few months left or somthing of that nature.

Ciggies are nasty, Karla, but at least you are courteous about it(just as long as you don't breathe in my face! EWWW!)! Very well done, I hope you find the courage to quit! Think of daddy; he quit after 61 years (but then he had no choice)! If he can do it, than so can you! I agree with Ed Kostro; there are worse addictions than smoking! (I wish they'd leave the smokers in peace and go after those repeat drinkers; that drives me crazy!!)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :(

Just keep thinking that way, sweet lady. Think of all the negatives over and over -- I'm proud of you for taking the 'quitting' plunge! Writing about it is good, too -- excellent therapy.

CJ
