... Trouble is, did not know how hard it is to use someting you're not used to. ...

Poem Artwork

Wanted to enhance what
wasn't there.  Bitten off;
fake nails should do the trick,
make me more ladylike.
Spent an evening gluing
them on, painting them - how
beautiful, how slender
my fingers looked!  Should have
done this years ago (or
kept digits out of mouth).
Trouble is, did not know
how hard it is to use
something you're not used to.
Next day, go to work:  a
waitress.  A gentleman
came in, ordered a baked
potato with all the
trimmings.  Served it to
him with a flourish:  did
not realize my fake
thumbnail was caught between
the metal plate and the
wooden one, underneath.
It came off, flew up and
into his potato ---
"Hey, lady, you missing
something?"  Needless to say,
there went my tip THAT time.
(And yes, still bite my nails!)

Far out! I love this story. It was ungrateful of your customer not to appreciate your hard work to secure those beautiful new nails! God bless. JMW

Do like those fake nails myself. Only hard to wash dishes and clean house with them and scrub and scrub without ruining them. I'll take my own anyday for that reason.

hee, hee, hee...
Too funny!
My nails grow so quickly that I have no need for fake nails, but they often get in the way anyway. It is excrutiatingly painful when I accidently bend one backwards or rip one off way down low... OUCH!

A very amusing story, my friend. I hate nails feminine or not. I cut mine though. I would have loved to see your face when he told you.
