Poem Artwork

Ten days before Christmas,
And all through the trees,
All the leaves are stirring,
From a late Fall breeze.

Most of them have fallen,
But a few hang on,
Some haven't changed color,
Some bright as the Dawn.

The yellows, how merry!
The reds hurt the eyes!
The greens are so vivid
Against the blue skies ---

But most are on the ground.
I've made a big pile,
The last one to jump in
Has to rake after while!

Merry Christmas to all,
To all, a good day.
Be nice if you join me ---
a kid's got to play!

Karla,

That takes me back...jumping in leaves, having fun, and really making Mom mad! Guess who got to rake? Wonderful poem of the season.

All our leaves are either blown away, burned in a campfire or picked up...though my yard still has a few lying around and I hate raking so they will stay there till next summer...thanks for the laugh, I really got a few hee-haws out of this write...ed

I WISH, Karla! All my oaks have yet to shed more than a few measly weaklings, so all this fun is yet to come over here in Dorset. Great poem to put us in the party mood... as long as there's no holly in there! And look out for hedghogs! :)) xx
