They are battle weary, tired, worn,
They all proudly wore the Uniform,
To ensure freedoms for one and all,
They responded to our Nation's call,

For some of them, the war still lives on,
They remember their friends that are gone,
Relive nightmares of war that they faced,
They only survived by God's good Grace,

For some, their health is an uphill climb,
Their body betrays, time after time,
Some lost their arms, legs, perhaps their eyes,
Burned, scarred, permanently paralyzed,

Some died, paying the ultimate price,
For freedom, their lives they sacrificed,
Laid to rest, they're forever at peace,
From war's horrors, they have been released,

We need to remember those that died,
Remember our Veterans, show our pride,
Let them know, they didn't serve in vain,
It's because of them that freedom reigns.
