once, when i was around thirteen years of age (or so)
i had to dry the dishes (a chore i hated so)
why should i be workin' when i could be out playin'
no choice--my parents i had better be obeyin'
see, that was way before there were any spankin' laws
no questions--no hestitations--better be no pause
my folks weren't mean, but i better do what they say
or there was goin' to be serious hell to pay
i smiled sweetly..."i'll get right on 'em," what i said
while thinkin' ugly vile *nasty* thoughts in my head
i'd better not roll my eyes--i did that once before
i found myself pickin' myself up off of the floor
there i was...doin' a chore i honestly hated
'course...bein' a teen, on my nerves any chore grated
dryin' dishes...they were yellow plastic UGLY things
practically unbreakable...harder than anything
suddenly...one fell out of my hands, bounced on the floor
split right down the middle...this hadn't happened before
*ohcrud* *ohdang* methinks i'm in a heap of trouble
i had better hide the evidence on the double!!
there was this box my dad had, of his time in the war
he seldom went through it--into it the dish i stored
i sweated it out, but my parents didn't suspect
*whew* i had gotten away with it...the plan, perfect
i worried over nothing, then forgot about it
two years passed by--and that is when everything hit
dad decided to go through his box...i loved to help
from under some stuff, he pulled out this dish...and i yelped
he asked, "how in the world did this dish get in this box?"
BUSTED! "i did it," i said, "thought i had you out-foxed."
"when did you do this?" he asked, a weird look on his face
"ohhhh...'bout two years ago...you thought the dish was misplaced."
my dad couldn't get mad...he started laughing instead
*and here i was worried that he would kill me...stone dead*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
and here i thought i'd carried out the perfect plan. :)
one thing i learned: you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool your parents at all! :)
hope you enjoyed this true story...shows you i'm not perfect, and never will be.
another lesson learned: what is unbreakable, usually breaks. some day...it will break.
and another lesson: i've quit hiding the evidence. :)
Hey Karla...this was a very enjoyable read... lmao... It reminded me of the time I broke our kitchen table..while fighting with my little brother, (and I wasn't even big then)..we couldn't hide THAT... so you can imagine the spanking I got..LMAO..

Great write Karla, I love stories like this. Personally I'm thankful for the whoopins I took. They sure make great things for me to write about. :)

too funny! but glad daddy didn't kill you; he sure was intimidating, wasn't he? just the sheer SIZE of him and his big ole hands were enough to scare the S*** out of ANYONE who DARED cross him the wrong way! YIPE!! :O a very funny, enjoyable romp into the old memory bank; so glad i was there to share it with you (but SORry you were the one who did the dastardly deed...usually you blamed ME, and then I'd catch hell for YOUR sin! :) )! lotsa' love, and ((((HUGS)))) a plenty, your twin, karen lynn. *BIG* :)!!
The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
Fractured Frazzled Folk Fables and Fairy Farces is adult literature that satirizes famous children's stories, fables and fairy tales. The work is Jay Dubya's twenty-first e-book available in Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook.
