Dream Scene (a) ... Giant Trees

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream there were giant trees
Extending into the sky
Bursting the heavens with lightning and thunder
Children stood in awe of their ominous majesty
Eyes stretching to the sky
Even as it towered way over their heads
Seemingly so dark and foreboding
It was strong and protected them from falling stars
They seized one tree’s trunk
As the wind forcefully pushed them about
Climbing onto its massive roots
Holding hands and laughing
A wonderful and mysterious sensation
Came alive in their faces
From the center of my dream
A storm rapidly approached
Making the children’s smiles more intense
Observing their eyes
I became immersed in their innocence
For the storm had transformed
Into a layer of beautiful rainbows
And as the tree walked away
It vanished into the distance
Where flowers bloom
And children tag on
What a visual treat you have prepared for your readers and fans! I love the way you blended the writers fears with the innocence of children. A lovely, endearing poem complimented with powerful and engaging words. Great poem, Jude.
Dear Jude,
Beautiful captivating write, how you weave the the magic, to reach the beauty of rainbows, flowers, children and the innocence. We should allow ourselves to become immersed more often :)
Yes, perhaps this dream is prophetic...they say that our youngest generation of children are more intelligent than their elders. Maybe they will lead us into a new conciousness?
A childs face is innocently serene.
This does have shades of Lewis.
For the moment I was seeing the same as the children.
Enchanting piece.
Oh how I have especially missed reading your poetry Robert. It seems like forever. Your poems always are full of life. You know how to bring the characters and the action out so that the reader feels as if they can reach out and touch it. (See it, feel it, hear it)
I am so glad the Master Poet is still here in the Den.
Have been surrounded by massive canopied red-barked cedars for the past couple of days which command the golden cliffs and shores of the thinest spit of land which separates open sea from a huge lagoon of natural harbour. Nature is indeed totally awesome and makes me feel so childlike and small - but I do tend to trust her, somehow, like a mother - and guess, if she's mad, there's a reason for it... but as usual I digress... shades of CS Lewis here, and even Revelation, which speaks of "the lion lying down with the lamb... and a little child shall lead them..." Perhaps, ultimately and in some strange and metaphysical way, it is the childlike innocence that will end up "ruling the earth". But in the light of your other recent lines about dreams releasing the world within our souls, and ideas of, perhaps, (for me anyway) confronting and marshalling our fears, this poem is about the way our perceptions shape and change our experiences of even the "scary" things in life. Children do seem to know no fear until it is introduced to them. Fascinating... I wonder what's in the bag for (b) and (c) ??!! K xx
First it gave me sight of the giant saquia believed which is believe to be dying...the original 100 plus metre tree is probably only 40 some metres tall now. After a few lines it took shape of symbols! EXCELLENT work, Jude!
I don't know.......I am sick again and maybe the strain is making me nutz.......
I wonder if any studies have been done on the affects of children raised around trees compared to those who aren't. As your poem suggests trees have almost magical qualities when they are close to children and we often lose that magic as we mature sadly.
Great work
I can recall a time, when not knowing that anything bad could happen to me seemed to keep it from occurring. I also recall times when I would be so frightened that something might happen that it did. A positive attitude brings positive results and negativity breeds negativity. Excellent dream poem, Robert, with just the right touch of surreal to make it enchanting.
Take care,
Sherry
