To the mountains I did go,
Found some peace and love fo sho.
Brought me back some souvenirs,
Something every hiker fears.
Not fleurs nor moonshine in some jugs,
But a nasty case of the Red Bugs.

Even tho' I live in Florida the bug capitol, I haven't seen these here -- here it's chiggers! & ticks (agressive ticks!) If you've ever had chiggers bad you'll never sleep again for weeks. I don't hike in the summer!
Walt, this is as cute as it can be! Chiggers can itch a person so bad they will almost wish to die. I've often had to paint my husband & son with nail polish so they could get some relief. This is such a humorous poem...its a keeper.
Ain't Nature Grand?!! I've brought home lots of little souvenirs from time to time. But I never had much luck with that nail polish remedy, try good old fashioned Calamine Lotion. And this too, shall pass!
That My Darlin be a little extra that Ya gets with communin with nature. Heck, it could have been worse, what if some sensitive boby parts got touched by poison ivy! Glad you had a good time and is home safe and sound! HUGS! SC

I do recall getting my own personal collection of chiggers while trying to pick blackberries.
Don't use an ice pick to kill them - as an old college aquaintance suggested to me once!
