Poke salad makes an excellent dish of tasty greens, but you must pick the young ones and boil it bout 4 or 5 times. The older Poke salad can kill ya dead.

I am told that the correct name is "poke salat" and my "introduction to The South" was having some of its leaves prepared (long process) for me to eat. I ate it, having more pride than common sense. It tasted like bitter spinach (sorta). After consuming it, I spent the following day waiting for symptoms resembling death :-)
I've heard of pokeweed, but have never tried it. Sounds kind of like elderberries. Not many have heard of them, either, and they're delicious! Well done, Walt, welcome back, I've missed you!
