I agree totally with your last stanza. In the 21st century we are growing up fast. No longer will we tolerate ignorance or hatred to prevail when it comes to gender issues.
For the last five or so years I was given (as a sort of punishment for being disabled and complaining about my treatment) a subordinate named Robert who acted quite strange and was hard to get focused on his work, although when he wanted to, did quite well. He seemed overly concerned about being accepted. Just before we were both fired under the guise of budgetary restraints, Robert started to act more overtly around our university campus. People came to me and asked me, "what is going on with Robert?" I didn't know and didn't care much about his behavior didn't affect his work.
About six months after we left work, Robert emailed me and told me that he is name was now Rachyl. That's how I learned what his problem was in addition to finding out that at eight years of age he tried to go back into his house and save his mother who burned in it.
We need to grow up and allow people with gender problems (including those who are gay) to live their lives without harassment and laws restricting them from doing what is natural for all of us like going to the bathroom. Ignorance and bigoted beliefs lead to intolerance, hatred and stupid laws. We need to tear down those laws and give everyone the chance to be free without ridicule.
