just miles and miles of emptiness
on this road that leads to nowhere
the shine of headlights
revealing your inner skin
the tires hissing madly
on a wet, angry street

there is no second chance
thought to be
dolled out in an existence
mute with anguish

you are so far away just now
lost somewhere in these clouds
that gather with knowing darkness
above the gleaming lights
dancing on the hood of this car

there is no second chance
Mr. Indignity
the words won't return
by way of your apologies

just miles and miles of anger
this miscommunication
my nightly supper
this road beneath us
a taunting illusion

for we go nowhere

despite the fires we start
your haste will smother
my wintery heart will conquer
until nothing is left but silence
and a sobering darkness

just miles and miles of emptiness
in this sea of faltered hope
it all feels so pointless
in light of my distance

I will the clouds to bear down
and crush my shoulders
beneath their mighty existence
so that I'll no longer have to carry
your burdensome weight

you can't stand the glittering city lights
and the tall walls pressing in around you
I imagine the same way you can't stand
having me too close too often
my eyes glitter like city lights
and you turn away in disgust

you assume me to be
a smothering black hole
of crime and poverty
you will me to be
a faint glimmer in the background
like a mountain you can't escape
but at least you're so far away
you don't have to climb it

I am so far gone from you.
