Earth will pass between Mars and the sun. So the distance between us and Mars is now about at its least for this two-year period, and Mars won’t come anywhere near this close again until the year 2010.
This full Moon (called the Long Night Moon) shines close to fiery Mars all night. Around midnight, the two of them are riding remarkably high, shining almost straight down.
The Long Night Full Moon

Torrential rain pelted my skylights
Sleep came easily this night.
Dreaming of family and peace
I was awakened at 3 am.
Eyes blurry from sleep,
feelings of celestial beats
summoned me out of bed.
As I looked upward out my skylights
I was illuminated by bright light
It was magnificent in splendor
this light that the moon did send.
I looked with amazement and joy.
Standing beneath these pools of light,
feeling the power of the moonbeams.
I felt a calming wave of energy
pulsing through my body.
I praise the light so bright,
I gave thanks for Universal energy flow
and began to cry as I felt
contentment beneath this "Long Night Full Moon" !
author's notes: To be awakened from a sound sleep, to witness this amazing "Long Night" Full Moon, made me feel so close to nature that I did weep tears of joy and peace.

I often felt the power of the moonbeams when I lived in Muscat, Oman. It was as though the moon there spoke only to me, imparting special messages that I capture under the jasmine tree in many of my poems from that epoch of my life. I know that sensation of overwhelming nature, connectedness and joy. Write on!

I have that same feeling Amber-Lovely poetry tho I will admit I weep more upon finding a bookstore with a sale on and then gorge myself at such a delicious treat(well ok I don't weep that much)
...Mother Moon in her fullness perhaps removed her veil...so that others might recognize a brighter light...and on this night...she succeeded.
