The astrological sign of Cancer symbolizes emotional self, family, emotional security and nurturing amongst other things.
This full moon begins at 2am est 1/19/11

First Full Moon of 2011, (in the sign of Cancer)

As I watch the icicles fall from the roof,
and the rain crystals begining to evaporate,
I am reminded that this full moon is a symbol
of dynamically moving water.
 
The energy from this Cancer Full Moon,
helps us to be receptive and intuitive.
It allows us to embrace our feelings and roll
with the ups and downs of our bio-rhythms.
 
The sensitive nature of this moon,
pushes us to seek comfort from food,
and nurturing  our love toward others.
It also urges us toward completely letting go.
 
Let your tears flow,
knowing that it is a cleansing act of kindness
to your tender heart.
Breath in the cold air to refresh and rejuvenate.
 
Take a walk and live in the  moment,
smelling the crispness of the frigid air,
feeling the flow of the melting snow,
While embracing your inner child and just breath!

I know that I, as being in the sign of Cancer, am a moonchild. One of those who is stable and reliant on Family with the fairness granted to choose wisely. We live for emotion and passion and this write characterizes it well. Excellent work.

Amber, this is seriously one of your finest poems, I believe: the flow, content, mood, imagery literally stream together in emotional, spiritual and physical harmony - and that to the tune of this most amazing moon. This is deeply stirring and clear, like the rejuvenation you speak of... funny, how all of us across the world who read this can perhaps identify: your icicles sound like tubular bells or a shimmering gong in our souls to accord with the realities you speak here. I especially hope that you are thus refreshed in your deepest being, beautiful lady. The author of such a piece sure deserves to be... PS... "breathe", last line? (wouldn't normally point out, but it's your crescendo, last word!! :)) ) xx PPS walking the dog at dusk here across waterlogged heathland with the moon rising was phenomenal this evening: it appeared in the sky like a huge beaten-tin disc and was so massive on the skyline it took my breath away. I had to stand and watch it for quite a few minutes, truly mesmerised. It was about 1640 GMT. xx
