Praying and trusting you're well, Amber, and that your world is still intact as well as your loved ones safeguarded. I also hope that, if there has been damage anywhere in your vicinity, that your words will be being borne out by the compassion and camaraderie that is in evidence in the mopping up ops that will be necessary. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of these disasters is the potential for kindness and new friendships that may be kindled and nurtured. I listened to a news reporter up here in Canada who said that he has never seen what we are about to experience in 35 years-storm of the Century is like it-seems so calm now but a lot of people are spooked by it

I think many are watching and praying that it will go else where. I sincerely hope and pray the damage will not be to severe. You are right about man made conditions and decisions. I don't see any of that ending in the near future. With all the technology in this world , we can not stop mother nature!.....M.

Guess I am going to have to ride it out in my motorhome...but as I am about 35 miles from the ocean I doubt that other than wind anything too major will occur...but keep those of us here in the northeast in your prayers, thanks...e

I didn't know that Al Franken has a storm named after him! What an honor! ;-)

I believe you are right about what we are doing. It seems like we have to build, build, build shoddy buildings in places where there should be no buildings at all. In the past, so many lost their lives. Today it seems that loss of life is much less but the cost is much more. I think at some point, it will be loss of life again that we will be facing in greater numbers.

How can we not see
all that we are doing,
when storms hit so hard ,
and cause billions of dollars in damage.

It boggles the mind that so many refuse to see what we're doing to this planet. And stay safe during Frankenstorm.

I always conserve Amber and waste naught a thing
In 1898 the east coast and Canada were hit with a terrific
storm and it goes on to
The 1935 Labor Day Hurricane was the strongest tropical cyclone of the 1935 Atlantic hurricane season, and one of the most intense hurricanes to make landfall in the United States in recorded history. The second tropical cyclone, second hurricane, and second major hurricane of the season, the Labor Day Hurricane was the first of three Category 5 hurricanes at landfall that the United States endured during the 20th Century (the other two being 1969's Hurricane Camille and 1992's Hurricane Andrew)

It is a matter of mother earth and her cleansing storms of the century
as recorded go back as far as the 1600's!

Well I have rambled on enough lol, but yes always help loved
ones and neighbors....

I don't quite understand how conserving fuel and water can possibly have anything to do with your Frankenstorm. Not saying that conservation is not a good thing, but I just can't wrap my mind about what possible difference if everybody saved food and water for thirty years, the storm is going to hit, there will be horrible thing the storm will do to the landscape and buildings, and people, even with all that conservation.
