Before a butterfly gets free from her cocoon she goes through a painful process, just like a woman who is trapped in a suffocating love.

Selfish restriction
Gripping the heart
Unmasked emotions
How did it start?
Writhing in pain
To set herself free
Slowly in tears
To gain liberty
At last it is over!
With wings beautiful
A butterfly lover-
She's no April fool!

Cynthia,

I liked this--it almost reads like a long version of Haiku.

Being a love's April Fool is for a few moments a delightful state of mind, the thorn enters but love works as anesthetic, then, love departs and there is left pain instead.
