sitting outside watching
the mountain’s first wildfire this season
five miles distant traveling this way
over ridges, down canyons
around me are ashes and cinders
oak leaves singed and exploded from trees
landing whole in my yard
I’m not afraid, I sense a wall of
protection around me
the energy fueling this fire
will not burn me
my confidence grows as
I trust this invisible shield
around my home and neighborhood
the ominous fire
taunts and teases beyond the boundary
pacing the ridges
planning its next move
protection comes in many ways
today its wearing a uniform
dressed like a fire fighter
A miraculous and defensive wall of heaven sensed in this splendid poem narrating the conflagration of a forest fire..
Good always comes out of bad...and Nature will always triumph over adversity..

Great write and hopefully soon this one will be put to rest
Tommy
and the destruction that it leaves. It's so
painful what it does to the mountains and natures
beauty. I have a huge amount of respect for our
fire fighters. They put their life on the line.
Great write!
Be careful!
