poppies

gliding the thermal of morning air
aware of a color coming in view
a carpet of orange covers the hills
a blanket of poppies has come into bloom

shrugging off influences
of planetary pull
i glide myself into it's brilliant color

the opium fragrance consumes my being
intoxicating cravings stir within me

landing myself within it's embrace
shift into rabbit of white cottontail
happily hopping within the field
rubbing against all its sticky sweetness

Reminds me of The Wizzard of Oz..."Poppies" as they are falling asleep running across the field trying to make it to the castle... I love poppies :) Thank you... Teresa

The California poppies are a wonder to see.
As pretty as the fields of bluebonnets in Texas.
