Very interesting take on a phrase that is not used so often today.
You are so right -- computers make it so easy for us - so quick - we forget the labor necessary to write in long-hand. Perhaps a person who lived 100 years ago would think us lazy for not expressing our thoughts in a more flourishing writing style. To end -- shall I say "Well penned" or "Good Job" - whateve -- your words make us pause and think about ourselves and our lives. Susan

my wife calls my laptop my girlfriend, I use the terms ink, pen, write etc they all serve as symbols for us writers and poets, regardless of whether we are using a pen or whatever. good one Mary, cheers

i use quills, a 70 year old Royal typewriter, a fountain pen, pencil, notebook, depends upon mood and situation ...

Actually, I still use a pen quite often. I carry a notebook with me, and ideas rarely occur while I'm at the keyboard ... they slip in during life.

During my teaching days, I wrote all my ideas and notes out longhand, then typed them myself. Then, when it came time for the lesson, I didn't need them. Go figure!
