Wait, sleep and rest awhile
Said Winter with her shivery smile.
Snuggle deep beneath my snowy coverlet
Safe and secure, till Spring's song awakens you.
Reeds whisper to the naked trees
Secrets spread by a wintery breeze.
They hide the waiting bird that listens to the song so faintly heard.
Not yet, my timid heart.
Soft fog fingers glide and gently part
To see the chicks that hide beneath your ruffled wings.
Beware walker who blunders nigh,
seeking home with many a sigh
To wake the sleeping chick with flustered start
Who flees to the safety of a swift flowing stream.
Dave.
BTW. my Sis-in-law & family live near Meander.
