Poem Artwork

Jo’burg city, my city I mourn your loss

The cold electric wind blows trough the gutted cement trees

A few neon flowers still bloom, bright as sun light

Against the pale backdrop of people oppressed,

By greed by anger violence and fear

I cry for you, my tears running through

Furrows in my face, erosion by time and sorrow

my skin feels old my bones ache, yet I am young

Day by day you carry on working in fits and starts

As your life blood ebbs and flows.

At five you exhale a mass of life, and the dark

The fear comes out to play, life and death traded as fruit

On the corners of empty streets

Jo’burg City, my city, city of gold no more,

City of death and sorrow, city of broken hopes and

Smashed dreams now

I will cry and for you sing my requiem

 City Jo'burg, Jo'burg City

You're a very talented young poet. Your work has structure and feeling and eloquence.

Just a kind word..."By skin feels old...?"

Behind the Gates: Behind the Gates: A 1990s Hollywood Romantic Suspens by Lisa Maliga

The higher you go into the hills, the deeper the secrets... A seemingly innocent piece of mail shatters the illusion of Beverly Hills luxury, forcing a terrifying statement from a powerful action movie mogul: "they can't kill us fast enough."
