(For Gogga, beloved Companion)

She came to me, laughing smiling
She Touched my heart and made it sing
She touched my heart and made it laugh,

Her barks and little yips
Her hair upon my clothes
Her smell memories locked in my heart

She left me, and touched my heart,
touched my heart and made it shrill as a banshee
Touched my soul and made it weep.

Her liquid eyes, are into my mind,
her barks are singing with my hearts pain
She will go to rest, her blood to dust.

In my soul a bell tolls the funeral march
her steps no longer next to mine.

I see the rain falls down, my tears falling like rain,
her bones laid to rest, her soul our world has fled.

Leaving her cold empty bed
she still treads my toughts, runs through my head

Leaving me cold, empty like her bed

This poem brought back memories of all the childhood pets we had. I think that the pain of losing some burned a hole too big and I've never had a pet since.

How sad. I've a little old, old doggie who's on her last legs. So sad to watch them go. I like the part about the dog hairs. I like it because I know it's a paradox. I get so upset about dog hairs all the time. I breath them in, they cling to the furniture, but really, when little Copper goes and her hairs remain, I know I will love them. Check out Leo Durrant's "La Llorona". There are some similar ideas. Take care. --Charlie
