This image will stick in time
(like the Marines raising the flag
over a hard fought Pacific island)
Arm stretched out, falling fast--
the liberated cheering, the liberators grinning--
reaching out for the free soil
as if grasping for a last chance at life.
One second standing, the next buried in sand,
reduced in worth to less than a rag--
the symbol of a dead regime.
Tearing down the dictator,
an image stuck in time.
nicely written...hip,hip hooray for the liberated and the liberator's....Z

Very good writing J...don't know how I missed it earlier....kind of having a bad day..this of course is right on target..lets hope now there can be peace..floria
