Winter’s death grip evident
upon the once bloomed hills now pale…
While blue-gray tendrils kiss the air
a candle glows in window’s veil.

Beneath the swell of fallen snow
the naked flowers dance no more…
So still the trees in silent prayer
of fallen limbs stacked at the door.

The season’s shades in muted hues
replace the autumn’s earthy tones…
Warm embers of the burning wood
subdues the bite that chills the bones.

From frost-laced window panes the view
evokes the memories kept alive…
Much like the birth of spring will find,
the beauty sleeping did survive.

The fencerow glistens ‘neath the moon
beyond, the field’s an empty plain…
A subtle symphony is heard
within the wind, a soft refrain.

The tall reeds bend beneath the weight
of crested jewels born of ice…
A tapestry of nature weaves,
the soul she beckons to entice.

A canvas painted for the eye
of snow drifts bathed in virgin white…
To wrap the mind in blankets of,
serenity…this snowbound night.
