The Need to Breathe

My heart is heavy tonight as I wait to hear news of how my dear friends in Haiti weathered the devastating earthquake today.

The Need to Breathe

The clear of the blue

sky clouded

with bits of dust

that came from

out of the blue

as earth quakes

lives shake

hearts tremble

knees tremor

Air is thick with clouds of dust

as weak foundations crumble

and rubble falls around

obscuring that which giveth light

and makes it hard to breathe

As dust surrounds

my heart and mind

it fills them with unease

and makes it hard to breathe

I search for light

and those I love

I feel the need to breathe…

My sympathy is with you, Cryssa, but also my admiration in the way you composed a notable poem that tragically compares your own need to breath with the suffocation of far-away victims of the tragedy. It touches the soul...Jerry

I am with you Cryssa. I know how you feel right now. I understand your need to breathe. The clouded sky will soon be clear again. Where there is love there is hope.

Such tragedy indeed.
I pray all are well in this tragic time.
Yet it takes such an awful event for man to show his mutual heart.
Hold on tight.

DEAR CRYSSA HOW I DO WELL UNDERSTAND THIS WORK...INDEED I KNOW YOUR HEART IS HEAVY AND YOUR MIND IS FILLED WITH CONCERN FOR YOUR DEAR FRIENDS IN HAITI. I PRAY THAT ALL THINGS ARE AS WELL AS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THEM...KNOWING THE GREAT BURDEN THEY ALREADY BEAR. CRYSSA...ALL OF YOUR FAITH THAT WE HAVE BUILT UP OVER THE YEARS...ALL OF THE STRENGTH THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU FROM DAY TO DAY MUST NOW BE USED AS NEVER BEFORE. BREATHE...FOR HE IS CARRYING YOU AND WILL NOT FAIL YOU OR THOSE FOR WHOM WE PRAY. MY PRAYERS ARE
FOR THEM AND YOU AND YOURS. MAY YOU FEEL HIS PRESENCE MIGHTILY. GOD BLESS. LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I feel for you, Cryssa, knowing how much you love Haiti, plus some of your children came from there. I can understand the pain you must be feeling at this time. My heart breaks for those people; they are in my prayers/thoughts (as are you and your family)! Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( *tears!*

Dear Cryssa, If I were the president, I would make a partnership with this Island. Instead of stimulus. Let Haiti have a special status. They suffered too much. It is time that we share our bread with them. My prayer and love go to them. Cryssa, don't let the dust cover the light that is in you. Remember your own poem "Haiti in my Heart" Love Emile

A beautiful compassionate write.
The waiting - not knowing - is the hardest part.
Not knowing what to do
I'll pray for them
And you too.

It's just one thing after another... I see all the crumbled buildings in pictures and can only hope along with you, Hon... Can't help but wonder and worry about Gardy too in all of this.

I love you. Give my love to the clan. Tell them I'm praying too. --Charlie

This poem captures how I feel since I first heard the news about the earthquake in Hatti. I have some missionary friends who live down there and am waiting to hear how they are. I'm in prayer.

Unimaginable horror.
If only horror was uncommon.
We all need a reminder to breathe...
While we can.
