Where’s a Broom When Ya Need One?
We keep some extra food on the top shelf inside our garage.
I just go get the things I need if I can get through the barrage.
My granddaughter wanted mac and cheese so I went to get her some.
I found the box easy enough and it was one task that was done.
Now I had to boil the water for it’s what the box said to do.
I found a knife to open the box and that’s when I kind of knew.
There was something alive inside and I dropped the box on the floor.
A little mouse jumped out of the container and headed for the door.
He couldn’t escape, the door was shut and he had no place to run.
I couldn’t find my broom and he was much too little for a gun.
So there we were facing each other like two competing foes.
Waiting with anticipation on who first would strike the blows.
Never found out who was more frightened, that little mouse or me.
I decided it didn’t matter; I opened the door to set my opponent free.
My granddaughter stood by in horror, then laughter at this combat scene.
Deciding she was no longer hungry then her face turned kind of green.

I had to fight off a Monster Rat that was caught in a trap in the basement. The kids were little, and I was afraid it was going to get loose and attack! I was scared to death, but fought a valiant battle with a shovel, believe it or not. That monster didn't want to give up, either. Whew! Give me a cute little mousie anytime.
Love ya,

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
Remember Robert Burns and the mouse's house he turned over in the field: 'Ah, wee sleekit beastie/Oh what a panic's in thy breastie!'
The photo is comical; he's like a cartoon mouse, Stuart Little.
He's like a naughty boy mouse caught with his paw in the cookie jar.
See Theodore Roethke's great poem, 'The Meadow Mouse'. He's a great poet that hailed from Michigan.
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
