Oh when I think of this I get a smile, for everyone disappeared like Houdini when they smelled this wonderful meal.

Poem Artwork

Liver and Onions

When my children were small I heard liver and onions,
Was the most perfect and healthy meal.
So once a month I would make them,
No matter how everyone else feels.
My husband and children are such good eaters
In fact, they eat me out of house and home.
But when I make my liver and onions I'd eat them all alone.

i hated liver and onions nights-we kids were often left at the table for a long time after my parents were done--my father to this day will still order this meal at a restaurant! I say, what a waste of a dinner out

I know what you mean, and luckily my parents did not make me eat Liver and Onions. I have only tried it ONE time, and hated it, but your insight to these things are a delight!!

Aye, my ma used to make us liver and onions. She was from an Irish background, too! A good broth with a big ham hock. :-)

My dad loved liver so of course mom made it and I went hungry that night, unless mom literally shoved it down my throat...can't tell you how many times I puked it back up, before she stopped...lol, ed

I have to agree with your family. I'll cook it, I love to smell it cooking but I refuse to eat liver & onions. The poem was cute though.
