Mothered by the swirling snow,
Fathered by the twisting ice,
Cruelly spawned on frigid shores,
Outward, southward the wind roars.
Over mountains frosty, pale,
Whistling, howling o’er the land,
Cringing trees blown barren, bare,
Bowed before the rushing air.
Fleeing clouds rolled through the sky,
Trailing tears torn from within,
Shrieking tears which downward fell,
Smashing on a frozen hell.
Ocean waves in frantic flow,
Rose to meet the foe above,
Fierce and brutal was the fight,
Fought in gray-cast, ghostly light.
Charging, snarling to the last,
The wind nobly lost and died,
Swallowed by the heaving sea,
Birth and death, both agony.
