Sprinkle a little fairy dust across an ocean so still,
think its waves have  paused to reflect on each other’s
brilliance.  December has iced their night-navied
peaks white and silver, then wrapped them tenderly
in lavender tissue.  Draped with diamonds, even
jack pines and split-rail fences take pride as the last
rays of a dying moon reach down to silhouette them.
All in this whisper-soft blanket  of silence, precious
silence.  Let’s tiptoe out and make angels, shall we?
Forget that this gift arrived with strings.   Worries
like black ice, slick bridges, misplaced gloves, a clutsy
defroster, and whether there is any rock-salt left.
We can fret later later about ending in the jaws of life.
Check-late-what-another-bill-what-if-flights-are-
cancelled-how-long-will-school-be-closed-oh, no-the-
meeting//dentist/report/playdate/bread, lettuce, firewood/
anyone remember if that neighbor returned the snow
shovel?  We are calling a halt.  We are  putting a stopper
over Rush and a damper on noise and taping blindfolds
over these robots’ blinking bloody eyes, and rolling up
in quiet to dream.  Later, we’ll clear new circles in
the frost on this glass and send up thanks for this delight.
But for now, we will Be in the Moment.  Luxuriate
in a glow usually reserved for lovers strolling dazedly
down a shimmering beach, and float-- just float -- on
silvered and lavendered  froth.   Seeing only,   feeling
only, this.     Just this.                      Just  this.

A moment in time reminiscing about the winter that is upon us.

And the hardened silver lake
an ice skater's dream to take.

Even though winter is now more hazardous to me physically now, I still love the snow, and the ice, the partially covered pines in snow, and the huge icicles on the house eaves. I still love winter, even though I can't make my snow angels any more. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

I always loved getting snowed in because we really were not and your little ditty captures that fact to perfection. Patrick

Winter scenes are breath-taking! Relinguishing the cares of the world by enjoying the splendor of this winter wonderland, brings back memories of once upon a time when I, too, marvelled at seeing the white fluffy stuff falling from the sky, and ponds and lakes turning into ice. Thank you, Phyllis!

Those that seize moments so rare as the beauty of a snow fall and savor their blessing and raw beauty, know living a life of joy. Phyllis you have scooped up a hand full of the cognitive skills and appreciation we should all have for such natural events. Beautiful. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

And, just this, dear Phyllis, is a beautifully accurate
description of the blanket of silence that greets me today (again)
on the not so sunny Jersey shore. And the gulls ain't
happy about it. -gene
