Christmas Magic

Although I wish time had stood still for a little while ....and my children were still waiting for Santa...there's nothing like the Christmas magic my grandson, Max, brings to his Grammy....

Poem Artwork

Precious memories tug at my heart,
On this peaceful Christmas Eve Night,
Happy thoughts of days gone by,
In the sparkle of tinsel and lights.
The echo of children’s voices
Their laughter the sweetest sound!
Rosy cheeks and dancing eyes
Knowing old Saint Nick was around.
The Christmas tree, the stockings,
Family and friends in good cheer,
Some of them we only saw
That one special night of the year!
But time slipped by so quickly it seems,
The children have left the nest.
They’ve become Christmas visitors now,
The ones I love the best!
It’s quiet here, but peaceful too,
And though memories bring me joy
There’s nothing like the child in my arms…
My wonderful son’s little boy!
His eyes aglow with Christmas lights,
We read his favourite story.
And Christmas is pure magic again
With Grammy in her glory!

This one brings tears to my eyes. Our children too are grown, but the only difference is they can't make it home. We do miss the kids and the grandkids, but they have to live where the work takes them. May God bless you every day of your life.

Though I am Jewish, (although actually not much of a practicing Jew) the Christmas season has always been special to me, and to my family (remember I have four, now all adult children)because we always looked upon Christmas not as a religious time, but as a family time and the most lasting memories I have are of my family, including my parents and my wife's mother all sitting and opening a mountain of gifts.

As "Grampy"(that’s what they always called me when they were little) to three lovely teenage girls, I really empathize with your thoughts here, Anna. Nicely done. Thanks Dick
