The Little Manuscript That Tried

After so many years of trying to be heard...maybe this will be the year...

Pushing and shoving with all her might
She struggled just to see the light!
Beneath a pile of crushing books
She wondered if they’d ever look!

Polished and tidied, she looked her best
But sadly she looked like all the rest!
She had a story she wanted to share
And she hoped someone would notice her there!

The slush pile was her greatest fear
Worse than she thought, now she was here!
All of the manuscripts vied to be seen
And some of them were really mean!

So the little manuscript quietly lay
Until it finally happened one day!
An editor rescued her from the pile
And he loved her charm, her wit, her style.

Now the little manuscript sits on a shelf
So very, very proud of herself!
Bound and stitched in the finest book
Persistence was all it really took!

I feel that all writers have a little manuscript that is screaming to be published, I hope this is the year both you and I finally get the call...
Lovely work.

Peace, love and light,

Cute story with hope springing eternal. Good luck; the best work rises to the top of that pile and I'm sure that's exactly where it's headed. Patrick

Annabel, my friend, I so appreciate your ongoing effort as it took me twenty-three years to have "The Climbing Boy" published. Good for you and I certainly do hope that this will, indeed, be the year your "Little Manuscript" will be published.
Your friend; Mark

Congratulations, Anna. I persisted for many, many years until I gave in and self published. The slush pile was a burying place for my manuscripts. I'm happy you found solace there.
