Delicate ashen flakes dancing merrily to the earth
Gathering upon vivid green tulip shoots
Poking up tentatively through the moist, cool soil!
Beautiful feathered friends gathered at the feeders
Chirping noisily…grumbling about the weather
No doubt!
Spirit sagging, I gaze through the closed window
Wondering at the capricious nature of spring!
 A dollop of warm sunshine here,
A tepid breeze there,
All of it a wicked taunt, a promise of what’s to come
No doubt!
Forecast doesn’t look good, at least for today,
A cold northwesterly wind bending budded trees;
The lawn an all too familiar blanket of white;
And inside, looking out, I know it will get better soon
No doubt!

But it can’t happen fast enough for me!
