lavish styles......through our attending children at porochial schools selling this selling that and lets not forget that so call yearly donation of $500.00 if its not send your children will not get a report card nor recognition........ "POOR POPE"

Rome has not fallen it's been transformed to a religious pontiff palace. God have mercy on the real fall of Rome. Perhaps Catholics can now be converted to pure Christians and leave the marble statues and glitter alone. Amen!

I'm with you. The Catholic Church (and all the ancient religions) is a museum, and all the newer churches, from Mormonism to Scientology are merely businesses prospering off the mostly poor, faithful.

How's this for a scandal? For nearly 700 years the catholic church conducted a series of inquisitions that tried, tortured, imprisoned, confiscated property from,and burnt human beings at the stake--perhaps 5 million innocent souls church officials believed were guilty of heresy (failing to believe somebody's elses beliefs). Perhaps in 700 million years humanity will be prepared to forgive the popes that signed the papal bulls, and their officials that carried out those dastardly deeds.

Scandal is always a good subject for poets to write about even if it offends people. Don't share your opinions but they are yours nor do I excuse the abuse that has happened by about 4% of priests who got into the church to do it harm and to the young ones in their charge.
As far as your nonsense about costs I can only laugh at your ignorance.

Annabel, I just had a great idea...why not create a reality show; Who Wants To Be The Next Pope?...The idea is to run them through a string of 'real life' situations for 10 or 12 weeks and whomever comes out ahead of the competition wins the ring.

You know, Anna, my dear far northern (keeping warm I hope) friend. Your sentiments are as countless millions in all religions (except probably Islamism) we wish to believe; we wish to have the comfort of knowing that there is a God but cannot juxtapose life as we know it today, and life's almost daily horrors, with the true belief that there is something/someone watching over us and that, if we are good people, we will join the something or someone in death. I, as you know, am a Jew and deep down I suppose that I do believe but outwardly I have serious, major doubts.
