If we have the technology to put a man on the moon, we can put a Sadaam away where he will never harm anyone again. The death penalty is vengance, pure and simple. How a believer in God can be for it is beyond me. Sign me up AGAINST it.

Kay you have a wonderful, wonderful heart, so full of forgiveness, and wisdom,
the problem with not hanging him is that there is then still a chance, (although it might be small) that he will one day be free, to do the same things again as he did before, i agree that hanging is barbaric, and I can't argue that it is still killing, but there has to be an ultimate deterent in all things, and unfortunatly hanging is all we have to make sure that people like him can never do harm to anyone ever again.
I have no doubt that God will punish Saddam Hussein and perhaps us for sending him to his maker before his alloted time, But I do believe there was little choice.
The poem was very good Kay as all your's always are, and I respect your oppinion on his fate, although I dissagree with it in this case.

Have no fear for his salvation Kay. There is a place in God's kingdoms we choose for ourselves here on earth. I am sure that he will repent but he will still have to accept what he has earned for himself. If this was not so then God would not be God. He is fair and just and Mr.Hussein is still his son.

Thought provoking excellence in verse, Kay; I wish they hadn't of hanged him, he wanted to die a martyr, they gave into his wishes. He'll be celebrated a hero..........tragic. And I strongly concur with Tinka. Well done!

Reading this, after the fact...and I too support God, in that "Thou Shall Not Kill!" All little me could do now is go out on my back porch and pray for his soul to be forgiven...and many would and will disagree, but...I cannot shy from my beliefs, nor find any other possible answer. God is specific, therefore we follow!

I have to agree with Robert on this one......Karma in action. What bothers me is the way everyone is getting excited about watching the hanging........reminds me of the recorded days of witch trails......

I just saw the news.I am sorry to see that it has happened.I am pleased I wrote this poem before the event.I was also one of those who signed a web petition against The Hanging.
How can he ever repent now?
How can he come find sorrow for his actions?How can he come to know shame for his past actions?How can he now feel that his enemies are better than him?How can he see his own country become friends with the West and find a better life without his leadership?All these things may have happened if he had been able to live in captivity.A fitting punishment for him ,indeed,IF that had been the case.
But,he is hanged,like a dog by those who should have known better.The cycle continues.I go on the record as having been against his hanging.

We have no say in the matter, Kay. The Iraqi people have brought Hussein to justice and the Iraqi people have decided on what they believe to be the proper punishment for him. He asked us to not release him, but it is illegal for us to interfere in that way, and with so little time between the court ruling and the ordered date of his death, we are unable to interfere. He is not of our country and we have no say in this matter. It is sort of the reverse of what happened to Pilot when he was forced by his people to crucify Christ...it never should have happened, because Christ should have only been judged in his own land and that would have put Herod in the hot seat instead of Pilot; perhaps Herod would not have condemned Christ to death...we will never know that answer. I feel your despair, Kay, and I don't really believe that this is the right way to handle the situation, but I did not watch my brothers being slaughtered by his attacks against citizens. Perhaps this will bring some form of closure to those whose lives have been permanently altered by his violent acts. I pray that there will be something positive that will come to the Iraqi people from this, perhaps some form of unity. An eye for an eye only works for a while, then, everyone is blind.

Like Joselyn I admire your brave thrust on your feelings of forgiveness but to all there is a limit. Sadam is a madman and an untreatable one at that if his actions are allowed to go unpunished then it sends the wrong message to others like him that genocide, rape, murder and torture and the terrorists attacks such as 711 will be tolerated and go unpunished. On this one I feel you are wrong, but I acknowledge your right to feel this way.

A Powerful plea you have written here about a subject and man that has been the pain of many in the USA and around the World. Yes, Jesus greatest request and command was to love one another. I believe in hoping too that we would not make choices to destroy as the towers and all the lives murdered there they were showed no Mercy. They showed no Mercy and he would us to love yet our enemies and pray for them for peace.

Moreover, he wants us to love the sinners and the ones that have done wrong.
In man’s law he is to be sentenced to death for his participation in the towers and terrorism, his own people shouted in joy too when he was over taken. They pulled his statute to the ground.

He has hurt his own people, many other countries people and cities. Even a plea of stop this insanity and vengeance in the site of man’s law is going to be a hard one.

This is a powerful poem with powerful statements. That took courage to write and post.
I pray for all humanity daily for blessings and forgiveness then leaving it to God as the judge. God has given man the right of choice each of us woman, man, child, we have the right to determine choices even unto asking for his salvation gift. God often gets blamed for casualties, deaths, rapes, nature everything under the sun by the accuser. But he chose to give us the right to choose. He will never change that for it was his choice to allow us freedom.
There are more that will need punishment also for this crime and other crimes before this is over.

We have felt the pain of these attacks and the loses, I pray all the wars stop and the world can be in peace nation to nation but it is doubtful this will happen in my lifetime.
I feel he is to be punished for the lives he has killed while in his command. He will recieve the election of death due the criminal quilty status.
My prayer is that he will find God through Jesus in his finale hours and ask forgiveness for these sins, hatred, and crimes.
