Retrieved Passage 3:
From The Book of Days, Sonnet 2
For Lo! I must relate this tome to you
who gather here to listen and believe
to tell the story I believe is true
before my sanity (BARK!) takes its leave.
The Spuds in Exile traversed the terrain
wearing long dresses of the fine-spun silk
all travelling by sedan car and train
with their bright ears fresh-bathed in llama milk
and (UUUURRRGGHHH!!) such necklaces as seldom seen
made of gold-plated prunes and aubergines
graced the neck-less heads of brown and green
of these arcane potato libertines.
And (WOOF!) soon you must go and leave me here
for my time of insanity is near.
Retrieved Passage 9:
A Cross Stick (Acrostic) Warning
The Tuberlantis soothsayer was grim
His beard shook in a flurry as he spoke
Elderly tubers stared blankly at him
Eager to find their concubines and smoke.
"Now there will come a great beating of breasts
Dread of the monstrous beasts beneath the sea
Ogres will run around in latex vests
For fretful fear will seize our fair city
Pull your green pointy hats over your eyes!
Oh put on scratchy sackcloth, idle whores!
Terrible cerise lightning cleaves the skies,
All clashing with our turquoise lace plus fours!
Tempest and pestilence shall hammer down
On all who scorn the flail and horsehair gown."
