'Non-chivalrous, it is a dark knight . . . '

Poem Artwork

It radiates in the eve from a cave

Not pale, approaches black in hue

Non-chivalrous, it is a dark knight

Flys through the air like a sheave.

This winged avenger mounts the air

Like a man-at-arms does upon his steed

Searches for unsuspecting victims

It jousts with them, a tournament of sorts.

With lack of sight, uses sonar

Makes it heart grow fonder, not faint

Woos fair lady, goes rather 'batty'

Mates back in the cave, dragon free.

This elite liaision coordinates its forces

Uses tactical warfare to win its battles

Silent, but deadly, its sound articulates

Divides the night into syllables, not words.

Provides a valuable service to mankind year round

Eats millions of mosquitoes, doesn't even bat an eye

Does it in secrecy, cloaked by the stiil of the night

This Dark Knight prefers to work in the absence of light.

Loved this, we built a bat house for the poor misunderstood creatures. Thank you for this, so I can show everybody that thinks I lost my mind by appreciating bats. Love, Bonnie

You are so clever, Robert, I love the way you put a poem together, with humor, much thought, and certainly with class! Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
