Meet Me In Dreams

 

Since we cannot be together

meet me

in the midst of mist of dreams

where time and place are abstractions

Greet me in the whirlwind of dreams

where sun and moon and stars and sea

and sky and rain and snow

and sleet and hail

and fire

yes fire

all wind up in the whirlpool of a rainbow

Meet me in the haze of dreams

where no one sees us

and even if they do

they don’t care

Meet me in the miasma of dreams

where it’s only you and me

and their rules be damned

As you spoke of this, I thought of the dream itself meeting the dreamer as a goal that we all should strive towards for overall betterment of self and those who surround us.

Reg, where I come from, many of us (we are OFWs) live on dreams. Couples part for one to work elsewhere for the family to survive. Our dream is what keeps body and soul together. This beautiful piece aptly expresses what we feel and struck deep into my soul. Thank you and be well Reg, my friend.

This flows like a dazzling mesmeric whirlwind. I truly enjoyed it. I appreciate just how concise you are in conveying your mind-images and how the measured syllable sequence beats a light cadence into the reader's mind.

Dreams--and rules be damned--if it weren't for dreams and fantasy, reality wouldn't be all that endurable. Our souls are free! As Don Giovanni sings defiantly: "Viva La Liberta!"

Yes, we are safe in our dreams to meet who we want and do what we want and the rules be damned. We don't have to worry about what other people say or thing either. Dreams are a good place. After good dreams, we wake up feeling good too. That's a great way to start a day.

I love that word "miasma". Its conotations are very interesting-- vaporous, poisonous-- dangerous... watch out, there. She may be a snake just waiting for the kill --Charlie

I am not sure, but this beautiful work somehow left me sad. It spoke of a Bourgeois tragedy. I see in my mind’s eye someone that is missing, a lost love or family member. And therefore, “Meet me in my dreams.”

Or perhaps it is the merely my imagination. An inexplicable pull towards the humanistic relationships that truly make us feel, and know we are alive.

Either way, it was a superb poem.

I have one of those too, we cannot be together...but we meet in dreams, sweet dreams where you dont hear bad news or see heart breking thing, just the face of each other through that gossamer fog that all dreams are wrapped with.
Reg, you will never be alone as long as you can close your eyes and dream.
