Some women are like dreams, beautiful; but there is a fine line between a dream and a nightmare...

Poem Artwork

Black Flowers

Flowers of evil -
Black shiny petals
In bright moonlight
Ebony dewdrops
Dark tears
From some black hole
In hidden heaven

Pick a deadly dozen
Feed them to the mares of night
Until they breathe its death bouquet
And die

Let sweet dreams return
That dawn may find me
Rested
Renewed
Restored
Raring to replant the burned out fields
Ready for the new dimension
And sow new dreams
To grow a crop
Of new reality

Only with shadows can we truly learn to appreciate the light :) My multiple personalities relate well to this peace (Indeed, the battle of light and dark does rage within) Funny how even though some flowers can poison, we still insist on stopping and smelling the roses. Hopefully you have enjoyed more light than dark. Found this to be quite thought provoking and truly enjoyed the process. Thank you :) N

Wow, powerfully dark yet powerfully affirming at the same time. I like the looking toward the light after being consumed by the dark. No one should have that power over us! We are perfect unto ourselves. Love, real love should it find us, enlarges or expands what is us. Anything else is illusion. Brilliant write, Regis!

Regis: i like the meter in this poem, and the conciseness. I am a great fan of alliteration, so deadly dozen, and then all the "R" words work for me, except I think that the poem would be stronger if you used only a few of them. I really like the feed them to the mares of night, separating out night and mares, such that mare is a horse, a horse that, of course, must eat. And death bouquet is such a good oxymoron; I think it works well here. I think the grammar is a little off on "seed new dreams" but I do get the sense of it anyway. I like this poem, Regis (another "R!"), it has a dark seductive atmosphere about it. Thanks for posting it.

this is like the reality of an emotion left alone....

but alas a ray of hope permeates within to rise & rejuvenate!
