She sits on a knoll
Overlooking the eastern horizon
Waiting, she is not
The bright stars and passion
Once possessed within her stare
Have now disappeared
Left was death within
An empty void
No more tears for her
To cry.
A shattered heart, beyond repair
A soul darken of life
Embers dying
Distinguishing into ashes
The tracks of her tears
Are dried
She can no longer cry
A loving husband, missing
Still she wonders why?

From the knoll she witnessed
Her children's death
A moment of play
In a second
Swallowed into the swells,
Of killings waters
Like a nightmare from hell
As the Reaper,
Narrated the unfolding scene
With obscene whispers
She wondered, how could God allowed
So much pain
A whole village, disappeared
Before her eyes
Why was she spared to suffer.
Her lovely cinnamon complexion
The beauty of her face
Has turned rock hard
She has prayed, for her lost
There's no more words, to be said
Except the curse
To Neptune and Poseidon
Gods Of the seas.

William a powerful assessment in this excellently written poem!
As I wrote, we dance to the tune of natures whims. We have no
control over these forces and must learn to live with them as
horrific as they may be. Creator does not micro-manage our planet.

I think that this can be said of all who face tragedy and death but it does not have to be a tsunami to do so. I asked myself the same things upon surviving cancer when so many others died. Ours not to reason why.

Someone has to be left to witness to the world the devastation, a painful luck she did experience, I know she would rather be with her children and husband...what happened in the far east was a pity, Nature at her most terroristic...I hope she could find peace, Ed & Rufuz

A very powerful heartwrenching poem, William.

It truly is a mystery of life why some are spared in these horrific tragedies, while their loved ones are swept away and lost. I guess none of us will ever know the answers.

You have, somehow, tapped into her soul, William. There are no words to express the kind of grief and fear that must plague the people left behind. Excellent writing.
Take care,

William, the devastation is horrendous. And now those that survived, have even more to worry about, from the threats of disease.
Beautiful sentiments from your heart William.
